The federal discount is based on the battery’s installation date. Here is the short version.
The STC factor drops from 6.8 now to 5.7 from 1 January 2027. That is about a 16% lower factor, not a 16% rise in battery prices.
The factor steps down every six months, each January and July.
The full factor applies up to 14kWh. From 14kWh to 28kWh it is 60% of the factor.
The battery must be installed with new or existing solar PV. Other eligibility requirements apply.
